Aden Airways Cabin Crew

Wendy Locke 1962

I was a hostess with Aden Airways from February 1961 until February 1963 and have a vague memory of this photo being taken.

I can't recall why, or how many shots were taken, but I think it was for a promotion and that more were taken on the steps.

There were no adjustable steps available and the steps used were too low, which is why I was holding onto the sides of the doorway.

So that you can add a name to the face and the date, my name at the time was Wendy Locke and the photograph was taken in 1962.

Miss Sabrina Crouch
(now Sabrina Peat)

"I joined Aden Airways on 1st February 1964 and left in February 1966. My brother, Michael Crouch, was a Political Officer who was stationed up country in Mukhalla and other places. I flew on the Dakotas which delivered fresh meat, vegetables and flowers etc picked up from trips to Nairobi.

On leaving Aden for England in 1966 the political situation was getting very bad. The two Viscounts were in Rhodesia being serviced and we had two Central African Airways planes on loan which I think got blown up on the runway at Khormaksar Airport."

Sabrina is today married to Bill Peat and they live in England.
