King George V arrives at The Saluting Bunder

King George V arrived in Aden on 27th November 1911 with Queen Mary on his way to the Coronation Durbar in India which was held on 12 December. His party sailed in the former P & O liner H.M.S. Medina, which like the 'Ophir' in 1901, was painted white. The Medina was escorted by H.M.S. Argyll and H.M. 'Cochrane', 'Natal' and 'Defence', the latter 3 ships having arrived on the previous Sunday.
